Another one of those restaurants you always drive past and think " Oh , we must get around to trying that place, it looks nice" But as you know looks can be deceiving...
Nice and friendly on arrival but this restaurant lets itself down with the quality of food. The wheels started to fall off the curry wagon early doors with greasy poppadoms followed by a rather uninspiring starter.
Just as we thought things couldn't get any worse along comes the oily over salted mains.
Defiantly one of the worst curries I have ever had the misfortune to eat. Sorry Asda curry counter, all is forgiven.
Don't worry Chap 5, it will get better, I hope...
Based on: 2x poppodoms, 1x condiment, 1x main dish, 1x rice, 1x side, 1x naan, 1x beer.

Well the Taste of India: it’s been around for many years, and I’m aware from a few years ago that they’d won some awards so was eagerly anticipating a visit !
A slight change of personnel welcomes Chap 5 into our group - and I think he’s summed it up nicely - as I was also disappointed with my experience there: poor pickles / the doms quickly deteriorated – beer had ran out – main dishes very greasy etc etc.
I appreciate it’s a Monday night and I believe the owner was running things solo – he in fact was probably the best bit of our evening out, as we had a bit of banter with him, but there were many areas we found him and the place lacking in.
What a shame, but everyone has the same opportunities.
Onwards and upwards and the quest continues !!!!!
On first arriving at the Taste of India it had the potential to be a promising evening, a smart looking shop front made the restaurant look warm and inviting, unfortunately things soon took a turn for the worse.
As our score reflects, everything was below par, from the standard of the food, to the lack of available beer and the tired old 70’s carpet. At this point every little oddity was being noticed like the very annoying knock on the kitchen door from the chef each time food was ready to be brought out, which made us jokingly question whether our food was actually being delivered in and not actually cooked on the premises at all!
There are certain things that the chaps may be willing to overlook when reviewing a restaurant, but undercooked poppadoms, selling out of bottled beer and bland, over salted, oily food is certainly not one of them!
Overall a very disappointing evening and one that the chaps would certainly rather forget!

Banquet night every TUESDAY £9.95
Restaurant from the outside was clean ,clear signage and good off street parking.
On entering the restaurant we were met by the owner , the waiter and probably chef all in one, albeit he greeted the first two of our party into the restaurant he didn’t give the last the same greeting.
The restaurant was relatively clean but very bright, and with the ageing decor probably would have benefitted from the lights being dimmed a bit, and not highlighting the very 70’s carpet.
Before ordering the starters and main course we were offered the traditional poppadoms, pickles and dips. The poppadoms started off well but as you went down the stack they started to become very oily and greasy, not a very pleasurable experience.
Between the four of us we ordered the following dishes:
Assami Lamb xacuti - very bland ,
Tabaq Lamb Harsha - The sliced Lamb was tough and chewy and very salty to the point of being inedible
Tabaq chicken Jalpino - The curry was bland and very greasy, after time the sauce separating and leaving a rather horrible mess inside the bowl.
Murgh Chicken Jafrani - The bowl the curry was served in was so hot the sauce was burnt around the outside, albeit the curry itself was ok but again very salty which again was not a very enjoyable.
Summary
The beer was very limited
The decor tired
Over seasoned food
Under staffed restaurant
No freshening towels given at the end of the evening
The mints offered after he meal were cheap and waxy , the type left over from Christmas
The bill in my opinion was not value for money.

Would I recommend - No
