This restaurant was a nice surprise as I didn't even know it existed.
Comfortable traditional setting with the painted murals gives this restaurant a nice original feel.
Service was friendly and prompt. Starters were good but my main course was a touch uninspiring which was a shame as it lost this restaurant valuable points.
I did however try Chap ones main of Archari Chicken and it was very good, i wish i had ordered it instead of mine.
I quite liked this restaurant. Its not very big but it is set out very well and has a certain character about it. Bit like me in fact.
Based on: 2x poppodoms, 1x condiment, 1x main dish, 1x rice, 1x side, 1x naan, 1x beer.
£ 22.65

So the Taste of India: chosen by my good self, and no one had eaten there or knew anyone who'd troffed there, so we all started with a nice clean plate - sorry - slate.
A nice warm welcome from the Staff and we were shown to our table; the restaurant fairly busy and buzzy with a very relaxing ambience and nice lighting.
Doms nice and fresh; a decent range of chutneys and dips however no lime pickle as standard, but kindly brought out on request.
Sadly Chap 4 has decided to hang his knives and forks up due to personal commitments, so it was only a trio of the Chaps that got involved with a decent mixed starter and a nice sizzling bit of lamb, and all was going well.
The mains came out - the prices are really good so I decided to push the boat out and went for a king prawn dish - but my dish came out really chopped up and quite mullered, so unfortunately there nothing Royal about the little buggers .. :(((
Whilst it was OK fare, they're big old dishes and a bit quantity over quality in my opinion, but I shan't grumble too much.
The table next to us finished up and got themselves a complimentary drink on the house (we didn't though!), so this place certainly looks after its regular punters.
On the whole a decent curry house, and whilst I'd go again and recommend it, I think I'd stay a bit more on piste with my mains.
Onwards and upwards !!
Arriving at the Spice of India you are presented with a decent looking restaurant with strange murel clad walls, which may not be to everyones taste but actually worked quite well.
The waiters were polite and attentive, although this is definitely one for the locals as eluded to in Chap 3's review. One of the waiters even identified that we were "not from round this way", which was based on the fact that he had never seen us before, and that their cliental is largely made up from locals (which is never a bad recommendation).
The food was of a decent quality with plenty to go round, but it seems like it may be a bit hit and miss on the main dishes, but mine was really tasty and spiced perfectly.
Definitely one that I would recommend as overall the experience was extremely pleasurable.
