Chilli Rating:

Nice looking restaurant from outside with parking nearby. As you walk through the main entrance you pass a small bar area with a waiting area for takeaways. This has been well thought out as it keeps it separate from the main restaurant.

The restaurant inside is well set out and the tables are well spaced. We requested a larger table and reseated with no fuss. A clean but basic restaurant with no real atmosphere. The music that was played repeated itself indicating that maybe they need another CD or two!

There was no offer to take our coats which is a shame as that I feel is always a nice start to a meal.

Our waiter seemed to rush us at times and his off hand comments came across as rude and unprofessional.

Poppadoms and starters were very nice and were served promptly. Main courses were excellent with all the Chaps commenting on how nice their meals were. The Naan bread was exceptional.

When our final bill came we noticed that we were being over charged. Im undecided as to this being a genuine mistake.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Chap 4 Review:

Well let's get involved at Kabirs; none of the Chaps had ever eaten there so proceedings started on a nice clean slate.

Parking was initially a problem; there's a small free car park over the road but all the spaces were taken, but we managed to get in round the back however it was a tight squeeze.

Our initial table was a bit cramped but we were relocated with no problems;  the starters and main courses were all of a high quality, but unfortunately a few bits of my lamb dish were tough.

Service was fantastic by a very friendly Waiter called Mr T, but a real shame his colleague was at times impatient, brusque and a touch aggressive which caused me a degree of embarrassment on some occasions.

It was surprisingly busy for a Monday evening which was a new one for us; perhaps this could have been a factor in us nearly being overcharged, however Chaps 1 & 2 flagged the discrepancy which was rectified quickly, but did sadly did leave a degree of concern to the accuracy of their handwritten bills..

Good food but don't think I'd return.

Our first visit to Kabir's and first impression stood well with it being brightly lit from the outside. Inside was plain but clean but had no standout features.
On entering we were seated quickly and offered another table when we asked for a bit more room.
The menu was good and drinks menu also complimented a good range.
We were quickly offered four cobra beers without being given an initial choice (much to my own dislike).
We were served by two different waiters, the 1st was of a good jokey nature and 2nd not so, which gave it a feel of good cop, bad cop.
I was quite surprised at how busy Kabir's was for a mid month Monday evening, and also noticed there where a lot of regulars.
The food was of a good standard and I enjoyed both starter and main course.

I feel Kabir's could be a very good restaurant as the food was great packed with flavour, but feel the whole place was let down by the service, this was topped off by a discrepancy with our bill.

My recommendation for Kabir's would be for takeaway only, as I could not fault their food.

The evening started on a good note with the restaurant having a nice curb appeal, although parking is limited.                                                                                                          Our initial greeting was warm but lacked that little bit of personalisation.                                    First impressions were very good with lovely laid out tables and a good quality leather bound menu, although the walls were a little bare and would benefit from a few accessories adourning the blank magnola paint.                                                                     The range of dishes was good, the poppodoms were  fresh and both the starters and mains were very tasty and had been spiced extremely well. The extensive range of beer was also pleasing to see (although it seemed our waiter was trying to steer us all into choosing one particular brand).                                                                                                 This is where our evening took a turn for the worse... Our main waiter had been superb, chatty, polite and good banter, but unfortunately his colleague was the total opposite, coming across as aggressive, rushed and at times bordering on rude. We then had a discrepancy on our bill which was rectified without fuss, but left a seed of doubt in the Chaps minds as to whether it was actually a genuine mistake.

Overall a lovely restaurant with really tasty food and very reasonably priced, but the waiter and bill issues left us talking about the negatives of this restaurant rather than the good things. It would be difficult to recommend this restaurant at this time, but I would be willing to review again at some stage and see if they could leave us with more positive memories of our visit.
