Chilli Chaps Reviews
Chap Review

My pick this month, so off to “The Palace” we roamed…..  a man down unfortunately as Chap 4 had work commitments, so just a happy trio of hungry Chaps ventured out on this occasion.

I must admit I had a very self indulgent reason for picking this  venue, as it  was formerly “The Rhythm Station” and my local raving club during the 90’s, so I have many terrific memories of the place and having a bop around in my formative years…….  They were proper happy daze.

On entry, we had a little sneaky peak into the main room (which was formerly the main dance arena); the owner found us in there and we explained why we were having a nosey, and he kindly turned the lights on so we could have a proper gander.

I think it’s now available to hire for weddings and doo’s etc; and it’s kept all its Grade II listed features and is really quite posh now.

The restaurant is situated upstairs so we had a bimble up the stairs and were informed we could sit anywhere we wanted as it was empty!!

Starters were quite prompt – normal doms and dips – and we requested these come out with our starters which were all fresh and tasty.

A good selection of draught and bottled beers available, however as pointed out by Chap 1 these were all mainstream lagers or ales and nothing specifically curry focused like the old favourites one would find in a more traditional curry house, such as Tiger / Kingfisher or Cobra) etc.

Chap 2 went for a Lamb Indian Madras;  myself and No. 1 went for a Thaali which were all of a decent standard.

Unfortunately no real finishing touches on offer or any real personal service, but on the whole a pleasant experience but one we’d probably not repeat again if we’re honest.

Onwards and upwards anyway!!
