"How was it then ?"

Thats what I got asked when I stumbled in half cut, bits of poppadom in my hair and lime pickle stains down the front of my shirt. I answered Mrs Chap 2 with three words that I feel perfectly sum up this restaurant. "Really, really good".

And it was, we all thought so. And yes it was a bit of a surprise to us all as we were expecting it to be a bit naff. I think that the fact that it used to be a sweaty 'all you can eat' Chinese and its located on the slowest A road in all of surrey kind of sets it up to disappoint.

Once inside though this is all forgotten. Comfortable restaurant with plenty of room to relax and I really liked the granite tables.

The restaurant was quite busy with most tables taken and even a large party of at least 16. This did not affect our meal in anyway with everything served promptly and efficiently throughout.

My lamb hot Balti was very good and the range of ice creams for dessert is impressive.

Great food, great service, defiantly recommend.

Chap 4 Review:

So onto the Chilli Spice in Camberley for our Monday night outing, and I must admit I wasn’t expecting a lot from this place – perhaps in part as we’ve had a few duff ones over the last couple of months – and I guess due to the location of it, being perched on the corner of the A30.

We were greeted fairly warmly on entering, and the place immediately surprised with its great ambience and fairly contemporary but tasteful interior, consisting of a well laid out restaurant with modern granite surfaced tables that work really well.

They have Kingfisher and Cobra both on draught which always pleases me, and a great array of cocktails if that’s your poison for the evening.

Our doms arrived quickly, however our dips were slightly watery which was a shame – Chap 4 and I decided on a cheesy chicken starter (Nambali) which was excellent, but did remind me slightly of something one would find in an Italian which took me by surprise…

It didn’t actually feature on the menu, however for my main dish the Proprietor had no qualms in organising me a Lamb Tikka Rezala, which was really well put together and with high quality meat.

An excellent side of Cauliflower and Spinach served along with quite possibly the biggest garlic naan in the whole wold, made for an outstanding main meal.

They have a really cool ice-cream counter as well with loads of flavours available, so we all got involved and had a bowl full of this which settled the stomach very nicely indeed. .

We received a complimentary drink on the house followed by a very sincere handshake from the Boss when we left, which capped what had been friendly and excellent service all evening.

Well done Chilli Spice: a fantastic experience for the Chaps and one I’d highly recommend.

Yet another Chaps outing, this time we headed off to Camberley's Chilli Spice.

An unknown venue to us with no recommendations.
Not the best of locations, with it being on the corner of the A30 and the Frimley Road and very limited for parking.
The outside has an ok appeal about it with bright signs and tinted windows making it hard to see in.

We had a nice welcome with waiters and owners both greeting us and quickly showing us to a table. The decor is smart and modern and set us up for what turned out to be one of the Chaps favorite Indians.
Beers and popadoms came out quick with the usual draught beers of Kingfisher and Cobra.
The menu had a great choice of starters and mains which we were keen to get into.
Chap 3 and myself opted for a starter of chicken mambali, which I had not had before. This arrived and to our surprise was tandoori chicken, tomatoes and loads of melted cheese. This gave a bit of a pizza flavoured spiced chicken dish which left me wanting more and was demolished by Chap 3 and I.
For mains I opted for the chefs special lamb. This was marinated lamb chops in medium spiced sauce and yet again left me wanting more. The rices were of a nice portion and sides of a good standard.
We ordered a family size naan that one can only describe as the same size as a boats sail.

The atmosphere was great with plenty of banter between us and the staff.

For a bit of a treat to end the evening, we pushed on for puddings, which happened to be gelato ice cream with a great selection, not seen by us in an Indian restaurant before and kept that fun feeling.

Overall, this has been my favorite Chilli Chap experience to date. And I would be so bold as to call it "the dogs dangly bits"

This is a perfect location to spend an evening with your mates or family.
I've been with me mates and definitely will look forward to a return visit.

Thanks Chilli Spice

After a few recent disappointments it was with low expectations that we entered the Chilli Spice in Camberley.

The location isn't the best, right on the corner of the main A30, but as you enter that is all forgotten. A very spacious, well laid out restaurant with a contemporary feel was very welcoming and inviting.

We were immediately greeted upon arrival and intently looked after throughout the night, the service was first class !

Starting with a cold beer (of which they had Cobra and Kingfisher on draft) and a Tandoori King Prawn starter, which was delicious.

Onto my main and I chose to go for the surpise Dish of the Day !!! This turned out to be an excellent lamb and chicken dish, which could have been a little spicier for my liking, but was well flavoured with good quality meat. The Family Naan has to be seen to be believed (see photos), it was enourmous !

Onto dessert, which the Chaps only normally indulge in if we have had a good experience and meal, so over to the well stocked ice cream counter for a couple of scoops of Tiger Orange which was very tasty.

Overall the service was top class, the food was very good, the restaurant modern and comfortable and to top it all we were offered a very welcome complimentary drink by the owner.

The whole experience left me very impressed and I would highly recommend a visit  soon.
