Camberley Tandoori

Arriving at the Camberley Tandoori you may not welcomed with the most attractive looking building or location, but this should not discourage diners from entering inside where the interior is well laid out and the staff warm and friendly.

The menu was simple but varied and we ordered our dishes with some excellent suggestions from the owner Max. The quality and presentation of the dishes was good, but lacked real flavours and seemed to lay a little heavy on the stomach for a few hours.

In summary, the restaurant scored highly for layout and friendliness of staff,  the food was of a good quality but never really excited my taste buds in a way I was hoping for based on the great service we received. A lovely restaurant with great service and friendly staff, good food that could do with being a little more exciting in terms of spices and flavour, but still worth a visit.

I had high hopes for this restaurant after seeing that the menu boasted of a mitchellen  starred chef no less , here for us in the dizzy heights of Camberley. Unfortunately for us he must have had the night off because the only thing that wasnt first class was the food. Oh and the toilet. That my friends can only be seen to be believed.

The evening we visited was busy but the staff made us feel very welcome. Their service remained first class throughout the meal and cannot be faulted. The starters and poppadoms were the highlight for me. Fresh, hot and tasty. The main meal however was a touch bland and lacking that special extra that curries can sometimes give. All in all a very enjoyable evening but a touch frustrating that this restaurant had come so close to being scored very highly. The search continues...

We visited here on the 22nd December and a couple of Office parties and a Birthday party were in full swing which gave the restaurant a great vibe. Our Host for the evening was a very enthusiastic gentleman who introduced himself as Max, and greeted us really warmly and immediately made us feel at ease with a welcoming handshake - without a shadow of a doubt this is exactly the kind of greeting we're after.

We were shown to our seats, and Max insisted on preparing us an off the menu "special" starter which was very flattering and tasted OK. The attentive and warm service continued, however I was underwhelmed and a touch disappointed with the main dishes - whilst the meat was of a high quality - the dishes were all quite bland and lacked any real depth of flavours; nothing seemed to combine or compliment in terms of flavour.

A complimentary after dinner drink on the house and another warm handshake to bid us farewell, however i found the food wanting which was a real shame as my expectations had been met and exceeded on a vast majority of the service levels we require.
