Chilli Chaps Reviews
Chap Review

Chap 5’s pick for this month and one we were all quite excited about, as it’s a nice looking establishment on the corner with quality curb appeal where I’d dined a few years ago, so I was excited to get it Chapped!!

Some Chap trivia for those that are interested (which is normally no one bar us as don’t think anyone else reads our website!!), but it’s actually where the idea of the Chilli Chaps was discussed and finalised by my good self and Chap 2, so sort of a birthday visit if you like….!

The Bengal Lounge was formerly a Pub so consequently there’s ample parking space at the back which is always a big plus, and we entered the restaurant buzzing for what lay ahead of us….

On entry most of us received a particularly luke warm reception; I was even treated to a first class scowl off one of the Proprietors as I walked past and smiled, and we all commented on this bizarre greeting when we were shown to our seats and sat down……    it was quite amusing if you enjoy a bit of hostility with your dining experience !!

Drinks were discussed and 2 x draughts is always a winner in our books, though the range of bottled beers could have been more extensive with only Bangla on offer.

Doms and starters were very good, and I have to say I personally thought all the mains were top drawer and I scored them high accordingly.

I think in all honesty everyone really enjoyed their food,  but disappointingly there were no decent little finishing touches such as an after dinner chocolate (or smile!) so this venue didn’t push for a top spot which is a shame as the food warranted higher marks.

It was saddening to hear the waiters enjoying a bit of banter with what were obviously a few regulars, as we received not one bit of engagement or light hearted quip, so shame on you Bengal Staff as  your bedside manner needs to improve I’m afraid.

Oh well; onwards and upwards and on to the next one.
